Here at Smart Lunches, we pride ourselves in quality customer service. Our team responds quickly and efficiently to answer any question or concern you may have in regards to our service. We aim to provide consistent, quick, and satisfying solutions.

In our experience with speaking to new customers, we understand that everybody has questions. Because of this, we decided to post our most asked questions to cover any information you’re unsure about. Take a look:

How do I order?Easy!

  1. Visit our website – www.smartlunches.com
  2. Create a profile and add your luncher’s information
  3. You can view the calendar for your school or camp. Browse our menu options for each day and order everyday or just once! No minimum order.
  4. Select your options and add it to your cart – pay with credit or debit card.
  5. Lunches are delivered right before lunch time!

How far in advance do I need to order?

We need two business days before the delivery date, in order to give our local catering partners time to prepare for the volume and avoid any waste. Any changes or cancellation of a meal must also be two days in advance for that reason.

  • Order on Saturday by 11:59PM for Monday delivery.
  • Order on Sunday by 11:59PM for Tuesday delivery.
  • Order on Monday by 11:59PM for Wednesday delivery.
  • Order on Tuesday by 11:59PM for Thursday delivery.
  • Order on Wednesday by 11:59PM for Friday delivery.

What’s the menu like?

We do our best to ensure that kids will find something they like every day by offering a variety of healthy options, kid-friendly favorites, and options for picky eaters. The menu includes 5-7 hot and cold entrees, and 5+ sides each day.

We run on a three-week rotating “menu cycle” which offers more  than 45+ entrees.

Luncher favorites include Chicken Fingers with Mashed Potatoes, Corn Dogs, Plain Pasta w/ Marinara, Chicken Caesar Salad, Macaroni & Cheese, Baked Potato Bar, Cheesy Bread Dippers, and so much more! All menu options are online.


What if I need to cancel, or my child is sick that day?

You can cancel up to two days in advance! But because our meals are made fresh daily we cannot offer last minute cancellations or credits, but the school/camp will find someone who will enjoy the meal so that it doesn’t go to waste!


Is there a minimum of meals I need to order?

There is no minimum! You can order as often or as rarely as you’d like— order one lunch or everyday.


What comes in a meal?

There is a hot or cold main dish, one side (fruit, veggie, or snacks) and any optional drinks or snacks.


How big are the meals?

There are two different sizes, a small (recommended to ages 4-7) and a regular (recommended to ages 8 and up). The portion sizes are indicated next to the meal in the details but you can always choose the proper portion for your child.


How many kids order at the camp/school?

It depends on the location and we have a wide range but we generally serve a minimum of 15 and upwards of 140 and more!


What about snacks?

The lunches are all packed and delivered right before lunch time so all the snacks are included and given to the kids along with their lunches. If your school/camp has a morning snack time, we advise that you pack a snack, but you can order extra snacks if your school or camp has an afternoon snack time! There are sides included with every meal such as veggies and fruit, but there is a wide variety of additional snacks you can order as well. These include cheese sticks, pretzels, and additional options.


What do we do about allergies/dietary needs?

There are dietary filters on the website that will help narrow down and eliminate any lunch options that a child cannot eat so that you are presented with the right meals for your child. We are completely peanut and tree-nut free. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available almost daily. We offer dairy free, vegetarian, egg-free, gluten-free, sesame-free and soy-free filters, as well as gluten sensitive and dairy optional.


Can I adjust or make substitutions to any of the meals?

We offer many choices and kid friendly options that kids love, but we unfortunately cannot make single adjustments to our recipes. We strive for perfection, and due to the large number of lunches that we prepare fresh every day, making single-meal substitutions would run the risk of error in other lunchers’ orders. We do put most condiments and sauces on the side because of this and we have options for picky eaters like plain pasta and chicken tenders.


Are any meals organic?

No, but we truly care about the quality of our food – that’s why lunches are made fresh and local each morning. We do have some organic drink options though.


How is the lunch packed and brought to the kids?

The lunch is delivered in hot or cold packs that are insulated and designed to keep the meals at the right temperature until eaten. Each meal is packed individually in recyclable cardboard boxes each has a sticker with the child’s name as well as everything in their meal including cutlery.
