  • Blueberries
  • Bananas
  • Greek Yogurt (or your favorite white yogurt)

Missing Smart Lunches’ Belgian Waffles on your day off? Make Festive Flag waffles this Independence Day to satisfy your taste buds! Simply follow the directions on the box of your waffle mix, or pop your favorite frozen waffles into the toaster. While the waffles are cooking, wash your fruit and cut the strawberries and bananas into small pieces. When the waffles are finished, top with the fruit in the pattern of an American flag. Use yogurt as a topping with the stripes or on the side as you like.

Serving Suggestion: Not a fan of yogurt? Top the waffles with whipped cream!

2. Stars and Stripes Rice Crispy Treats

Serves 12

  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • 10 oz bag of mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups of Rice Krispie Cereal
  • Sprinkles
  • Red candy melts
  • Blue candy melts
  • White candy melts
  • Festive popsicle sticks

A tasty treat! In a large pan, melt the butter. Then, add the marshmallows. When all the marshmallows are melted, stir in the Rice Crispy Treats and mix until they are fully coated with the marshmallows. When they are finished, press the rice crispy mixture into a 13 X 9 greased pan. Press down with your hands or a spatula.

Once the treats are cooled, cut into rectangles. Melt the candy melts and dip the bars as you like into the melted candy. Top with sprinkles as you please.
