With Thanksgiving just around the corner, most of us are scrambling to put together a feast for all to enjoy. While seemingly easily, sometimes creating a menu for a variety of mouths can be more difficult than the cooking itself. Some of us have food allergies, some are vegetarians, while some of us are just picky eaters. We’ve compiled a few spins on the Thanksgiving classics that you may want to consider this year.
- A stuffed tofurky may be the way to go for vegetarians, or for meat eaters who are looking to switch things up a bit. We’re saying “yes please!” to this tofurky recipe.
- Please pass the gluten-free stuffing! Don’t let those with a gluten intolerance miss out on one of our favorite side dishes, instead try this gluten free stuffing recipe!
- Does one of your family members have a nut allergy and can’t indulge in pecan pie? Try making a pecan pie without the pecans! This recipe uses pretzels instead of pecans.
- Ice cream in place of vegetables? Not quite, but kids will sure have fun eating these “ice cream” mashed potatoes!
This Thanksgiving, Smart Lunches is also changing things up a bit by offering our lunchers a classic Thanksgiving feast! On November 20th and 21st, we will be offering select schools sliced turkey, homemade stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans. Get your lunchers in the Thanksgiving mood by heading on over to our site to order the pre-Thanksgiving feast now!
(Please note that select schools are offering this lunch. Go to SmartLunches.com to see if your luncher’s school is offering this meal!)
